What We Do As Landscape Architects
Symbio Design works with each client to develop landscapes that celebrate your lifestyle, your unique sense of style and accomplish your projects functional and technical requirements. This includes working with clients to develop custom gardens and exterior spaces at their homes and working with clients to develop urban, mixed-use and commercial spaces.
Our passion is working with clients who understand that a collaborative approach brings the best solution to their outdoor environment. Through our process we work with property owners, architects, real estate developers and property managers to create custom landscape solutions that deliver a memorable experience.
We specialize in developing contemporary residential and commercial landscapes that include private gardens for growing families, rooftop gardens, green roofs, urban spaces, with outdoor elements including swimming pools, spas, water features, fire features, and outdoor areas for dining and relaxation.

No two projects are the same, at Symbio we do not arrive with preconceived ideas about what is best for your landscape. Instead, we allow the design solutions to reveal itself through our collaborative approach where we create options that respond to your objectives, goals and budget requirements. Through this process we share with you our perspective based on our experience to allow each client to make informed decisions regarding what is best for their project.
How Symbio Design Started
Symbio Design was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2014 by Michael White, a licensed landscape architect and LEED AP certified professional. Michael brings over 20 years of experience as a landscape architect practicing throughout New England and the eastern United States. Prior to establishing Symbio, Michael worked as a Senior Landscape Architect for Pressley Associates, Inc., an award-winning professional landscape architecture consulting firm established in 1977 by William Pressley. At Pressley Associates, Michael contributed to the design of a broad range of custom residential, institutional, corporate, healthcare and historic restoration projects.
